Operation Write Home - Sketch Challenge #231

The Fourth of July is looming, and so in celebration I'm filling an order for some Any Hero Cards.  Since I do try to relax on Sunday, I enjoy Operation Write Home's Sunday Sketch Challenges - they allow me to accomplish a lot of crafting with very little thinking on my part.  Today's Sketch Challenge is #231.  You'll find their sketches are always useful - really versatile - and their linky parties provide you with plenty of inspiration - perfect for birthdays, celebrations, and general everyday card needs - not just for Any Hero cards!

Bursting with patriotic colors, I decided to forego the usual gorgeous embellishments and floral papers for a simple red, white, & blue card with a splash of sparkle with the silver foil background. I also turned the sketch upside down.

My second card adorns a dog tag - compliments of my financial advisor who always sends a little something for the 4th of July.  I included a small envelope on the inside of the card to hold the dog tag chain so the recipient can use the dog tag for some other purpose.

Check out Operation Write Home's Sketch Challenge - and don't forget to join in the fun and share your creation(s) with us all on the Operation Write Home blog!

Another Page for Damien

Good morning, All!

For today's post, I'm continuing the scrapbook for my grandson-to-be, Damien.  Because his room will be green, I'm using a selection of green solids and prints - a variety of companies represented here including Bo Bunny, Pink Paislee, Studio Calico, and others!  I wasn't sure when I selected all these papers - couldn't find a coordinated paper pack that I liked....but I think papers I selected are so yummy! I debated making embellishments in natural colors (grey elephant) or stick with greens - I think it's a bit more coordinated using the same papers for embellishments. And I love the greens - so my animals are green! :)

The hearts I used on this page are from Miss Kate Cuttables.

Be sure to check back to see what Page 4 looks like!

Welcome, Baby!

I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate becoming a grandma!  What could be better?  So, here is the second page of Damian's first scrapbook (of many to come, I hope).  For a focus on this scrapbook, I've been pulling from Miss Kate Cuttables happy animal patterns - making for a fresh and fabulous child's scrapbook.  I'm officially counting down the day - Damien's arrival can't come soon enough!

Memories Captured

When projects involve babies, they become more exciting.  From scrapbooks to room decor, from baby shower invites to 1st-year birthdays - there are always valuable memories.  Creating a scrapbook is perfect for baby memories.  This is the last page of my new grandson's first scrapbook album - I always begin with the first page and last page to encourage me to have a good flow of pages in between.  Two pages down - eighteen to go!

Seeing Green!

I just remembered I forgot to post the past couple days.  That's because I've been focused on green - adding lots of green to a 20-page album for my grandson making his appearance in September.

Mom decorated his room in green - and with no real theme, she did already add some woodland critters for accent.  I love all the critters Miss Kate Cuttables has - but seldom have a reason to use them....so they were first to come to my mind as I planned this album.  Here is the first page that I have been working on for the past three days (those baby owls are a little time consuming with their small size).

Christmas Galore!

Hi, Everyone!

Hope your week is going well.

Have been busy, but not much crafting

And last week I was treated to a few days off work and a trip to the Grand Canyon for our tenth wedding anniversary.  Though we had only a short tme, any time with my hubby is cherished!

Needless to say I haven't had time to make anything new -hopefully will have time next week.  Even though I only work 35 hours a week, how is it possible it seems longer than the 70 I used to work?

Onto some cards!  Sharing some Christmas cards from last year.

I thought I would share the Father's Day cards I made for my son and son-in-law - One became a daddy a month ago - the other to become a daddy in September.  How great being a grandma is still amazes me!

Unfortunately, they all live in other states - I sure do miss my Adrian!  :(

Anyhow, enjoy the simple Daddy Day cards.
