Creative Confetti Challenge

I've been dying to use my new Power Poppy images that I snagged during the sale - today I'm using this sweet Auricula Theatre from Power Poppy. For my background, I decided on digital paper from We Are 3's Ladybug Birdie collection (retired.) I kept thinking flowers and Spring and ladybugs - which make me happy (Creative Confetti Challenge.) It all came together perfectly.

The Outlawz Sunday Songs and Rhymes Challenge

It's time for another fun challenge sure to brighten your day at The Outlawz. The Sunday Songs and Rhymes group are welcoming spring. I've been on a mission to use items from my stash, and all these items were right at my fingertips. I colored this image years ago - my how I have improved! The sentiment is We Are 3's For You, and the checkered background are also from We Are 3 - Winter Plaid (Oops! This is a Spring Challenge! LOL!) Stick It Down Sketch Challenge

Today I chose the Stick It Down - Double-Page Layout sketch using papers from Dragonflies in Flight from We Are 3.

Again, the design is based on this month's Sketch Challenge at Stick It Down...I did flip it horizontally.

Counting my blessings that I've hoarded craft supplies all these years - at least I can continue with my daily routine of playing with paper.  God help us if we have to resort to using any of my paper stash for toilet paper!  Wishing now I'd kept that big supply of mulberry paper - LOL!

Creative Confetti Free For All Challenge

I nearly forgot Creative Confetti this week - LOL!  This week we had only one place to be - everything else canceled or online.  Can't remember the last time we had four days in a row virtually free to do whatever!!!!  This week's Creative Confetti Challenge is a Free For All using a Power Poppy image.  As my hubby is a golfer in an Old-Timers' league, I need a sympathy card from time to time.  I really like to make the card personal, but couldn't find an appropriate image for Golfer Sympathy.  I did find a golf club from Clipart Xtras - so I added the golf club to the beautiful Power Poppy Graceful Still Life - I also removed the hat and books from the original image.  This is a perfect way to honor my hubby's golf buddies.  I embellished with ribbon/bow, pearls, and additional flowers fussy cut from Graceful Still Life. 

SALSA's Mystery Item - Feather

This month's Mystery Item swap at SALSA is a feather.  The flamingo is from Beccy's Place - Birds of a Feather.

Although I received a white feather, I added some pink boa feathers to it to give my flamingo a nice full body.  The background papers are from the We Are 3 Electronics and Miss Daisy collections, the sentiment from Beccy's Place.

My fave part of this is my glittery flamingo.

  

Splitcoast Stampers Featured Stamper

For you Featured Stamper lovers, this week's stamper is Pauline.  Pauline has a great gallery, but I love lattice work, so I chose her Beautiful Birthday card to case.  Rather than lattice work, though, I opted to make a shaped card using a layered doily from Monica's Creative Room.  The fab butterfly is one I made during a Make-n-Take at a local scrapbooking expo.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Wishes set at We Are 3.  Now go have a look-see at all the other cards cased off Pauline's gallery.

The Outlawz Freebie Coloring Challenge

Welcome back to my blog - today I have a card for The Outlawz Birthday Freebie Coloring challenge - the penguin drawn by our dear and wonderfully talented DT members, Sandra. As usual, I had planned to create the typical handcrafted card....however, the more time I spent with my ideas and choosing paper, sentiment, etc., I decided upon basically a one-layer card, instead. The sentiment is from Miss Kate Cuttables - recolored digitally to match my balloons. 

The heart background paper is from Baby Prints digital paper from Nine. When designing one-layer cards, I like to do so using Word so that I can add shadows - although the card is only one layer, it actually looks like it has dimension at quick glance.

Stick It Down Layout Sketch Challenge

This layout - inspired by the single-page sketch at Stick It Down - was a pretty quick layout.  I improvised by using a Minions Halloween treat bag (Kadoodle Bug) instead of the tree.

The background paper is from Dragonflies in Flight by We Are 3.  The title is from my stash, and the date was added with rub-on alphabet letters.

Reach for the Stars at Paper Ala Mode

I'm in love with the Rocket Ship from We Are 3. Our fun-fold swap at SALSA next month is the Star Easel Card - perfect for the Reach for the Stars Paper Ala Mode Challenge. Wow, this was much hard than it looks! I used several patterns from the Outer Space collection for my card base. I digitally colored the fun Rocket Ship, and added a sentiment from the Fabulous set.

We Are 3 and Creative Confetti Challenge

This week Creative Confetti has sketches for the challenge. 

This is just about the perfect sketch challenge!  It doesn't happen often, but my card turned exactly as my vision!  I used Power Poppy's Poinsettia. I used paper from the new Watercolor Delight collection for the patterned background.  I added the new Ribbon Banner from We Are 3 to the card.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.

 

Power Poppy and a Sketch

Power Poppy's Creative Confetti Challenge this week has two fabulous sketches that are fun and easy to follow.

Cuppa Buttercup is colored digitally - printed on digital patterned paper.  I flipped the sketch and have my "ribbons" on the bottom....a big gem replacing the sketch's button (I've been wanting to find a good use for this big ol' gem!)  

What fun I had with this - using some paper I purchased years ago for the background.  Thanks so much, Power Poppy, for the glorious floral images!

Anything Chocolate for SALSA

This month's card swap at SALSA is Anything Chocolate.  

For my paper, I used Springtime from We Are 3 - added a glittered chocolate bunny, and embellished with a doily, roses, and small pearl flourishes.

Creative Confetti Challenge - Just Color

I really ended up like the Creative Confetti Challenge at Power Poppy.  Of course, I ALWAYS love their challenges and welcome any excuse to color.  It's so much fun to see inspiration from Power Poppy each week.  I colored the new Honey Bunny mage from We Are 3.  You know this is going on a card, though!  LOL!

Celebrate Spring at We Are 3

What's in a background?  Check out the new Springtime paper collection.  This set comes with beautiful overlays.  Digital overlays work much the same way as plastic overlays in traditional scrapbooking.  You can use the overlay itself - or put it on top of another digital paper for a totally different effect.  Today I'm sharing four cards with the same overlay.  In some cases the difference is obvious - in others the difference is quite subtle.

Card 1 uses the overlay just as a digital paper background.  If printed on white cardstock, you get a white background.  You can also print this on any cardstock - lighter colors work best.  However, all the flowers will pick up a bit of the color - which can be fun, too.

The second card is the same overlay printed on top of the blue Sunny Day pattern in the same collection.

Card 3 is printed on a lace-patterned paper from the Ladybug Lace, Too set.  It's subtle - the lace pattern provides a subtle two-tone background design.  It's hard to tell in the photos, but the bunny's jacket actually has the same design - very tiny.  

The last card I tried - the overlay design is printer on gold-foiled cardstock.  I love this effect!  Though the bunny doesn't quite match in elegance on this card.

Progressive Freebie - March Challenge - Giant Mushroom

Well, here's a sweet digi. This month at The Outlawz, the Progressive Freebie is Giant Mushroom from Sheepski Designs. I was excited to color this one, as it's different than anything I've colored before. 

I kept the card simple, using just an embossing folder for the background, embellishing with some pearls.  I was thrilled with my coloring.  I got help with his beard from Marker Geek.  The beads are from a box of beads I just bought on Amazon - like 8,000 beads for $8.  7,000 of those beads are tiny, tiny, tiny....so gluing them on to the card has a definite learning curve!  LOL!  I love the way they look....and they are adhering well when I run my fingers over them....not so sure they would hold up in the mail, though.

Back to Basics from We Are 3

I have had an idea in my head for years, inspired by a card class I took. However, I had a hard time grasping my head around where I should start. After pulling the card out during a chat with Bonnie from We Are 3 - and actually having a day all to myself with nothing pressing that needed to be done - I started playing. I started with the Back to Basics collection. For my flowers, I used the Ultraviolet Kiss Floral Watercolor Collection from The Hungry JPEG. The sentiment for a teacher is from the Teach set at Love SVG. The doily is Layered Rose Doily from Miss Kate Cuttables.
