Love Ya!

Remind me next time I do a shaker card to use some baby powder on the sides of the pop-up tape!  I'm not particularly fond of making shaker cards anyway, and finishing it to watch all my sequins and beads stick to the sides of the tape about did me in!  But Yay for me!  I just made a second shaker card and did remember to use some baby powder on the edges.  I managed to combine some goals with this card - a shaker card inspired by the Card Marker Success Summit, a card for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge (Let's Paint the Town Red), and using some We Are 3 papers (Winter Plaid).  Woohoo!

Painted Canvas for We Are 3

The adorable rainbow background is Painted Canvas (We Are 3).  The I Love You sentiment is We Are 3, also - the Valentines set.

Happy Flamingo Day!

The theme for Paper Ala Mode is Looking Forward to . . .  So my card features a flamingo - Ground Hog's Day has become a very special holiday for a friend and me....however, Ground Hog days are difficult to make....so I've renamed the day Flamingo Day in honor of my friend living in Florida - and, well, flamingo images are abundant in papercrafting circles. I used Everyday Overlays.  While they can be used over other papers, I chose to stick with a white background that would put the focus on the flamingo.  The sentiment was computer generated.  I love how it turned out.

Thank you to Kate Hadfield Designs for sponsoring us this month.  Hope to see you at the challenge.

New Release at We Are 3

Here's today's card, created with Painted Canvas for the background and flower.  The flower was cute with a Heartfelt Creations die.  I added a sentiment from the Thoughtfulness set.

I added some white floral flourishes.  The flower center is a brad from my stash.  Luck was with me to find one that matched the background paper so well.

New Papers at We Are 3

I spent quite a bit of time in the Card Maker Success Summit that just ended yesterday.  The theme seemed to be Ink Blending with Alcohol Inks - isn't that perfect for a digital scrapper?  LOL!  I did get loads of ideas, though - but this idea struck me, and I've been playing ever since.  Daniel West's "Lunchbox" cards.  They are small gift card inserts that can be slipped into lunchboxes, drawers, wallets, purses, pockets, etc.  I've always wanted to be that person who did this....but I'm not much of a "writer," so never jumped on the bandwagon.  But when I saw Daniel's clean and simple cards with a simple message - I got excited that I don't really need to write little notes - I can let my vast inventory of digital sentiments to do that job for me.

Here's a closeup of one of the cards.  The background on each of these cards is from the new Painted Canvas collection.
The sentiments are from a variety of sentiment sets at We Are 3:  Dreams, Special Wishes, Cactus Thoughts, and Cactus Greetings.

February Challenge for Paper Ala Mode

We're celebrating my preferred way of papercrafting at Paper Ala Mode with the theme Let's Get Digital!  This is one challenge you don't want to miss, because it's a great way to see traditional papercrafting using digital tools. Woohoo!  An easy way to join in is using a digital image.  My project features Everyday Overlays, a special digi technique.

These overlays are available for $3.50 at Kate Hadfield Designs.  Visit the Paper Ala Mode challenge to find out more about digital papercrafting and see examples of both digi and hybrid papercrafting.

The overlays have transparent backgrounds and can be printed over any paper.  For this card, I recolored the overlay using a gold foil paper effect, then printed over a red background.  I added a heart also using the gold foil effect to enhance the background.  Could this be more adorable?

The heart is from Miss Kate Cuttables' Assorted Hearts.  The sentiment came from my stash.  We invite you to join us with a digital-themed project of your own.  Be sure to enter our challenge with a digital-themed project.

The Paper Ala Mode team has a fabulous collection of digital projects that you won't want to miss, so be sure to visit the Paper Ala Mode challenge for amazing inspiration.  Thank you so much for your continuing support of Paper Ala Mode challenges.  We can't wait to see what you create.

Life

I don't even remember my sisters at my college graduation.  I'm honored to have them as sisters - we've just become closer throughout the years.  They are strong women, wonderful mothers, generous ladies, and true and loyal friends.  They make me laugh...often, and I always look forward to their calls.

The beautiful papers are Touch of Teal and Enchanted.  There was no question in my mind which papers I wanted to use.  The "journaling" is from the Life set.

Valentine Be Mine!

An earlier freebie at My Scrap Chick  was a Gnome Candy Bar Wrapper.  This fabulous file is addictive!  And a wonderful way to use up scraps.  For these first adorable gnomes I used scraps from the Spring Butterflies and Dreamy Creamy collections...both from We Are 3  They are definitely fun to make!  I added some miscellaneous word art perfect for the neighborhood kiddies for Valentine's Day.

Here's a few others I made - all for the neighbor kiddies.  All from scraps - notice I did get a bit carried away!

Sketch Challenge at The Outlawz

If you're not a member of The Outlawzyou should definitely check it out.  There are challenges going on seven days a week and the chance to win monthly prizes. My make today is inspired by the Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

The papers are from We Are 3's Paris Café collection.

Flamingo and Sparkles for Featured Stamper

I used design paper from Creative Memories, a sentiment from We Are 3, and a flamingo from my stash.  Gotta say, it's been a while since I've added sparkle to anything, and I'm missing it big time!

New Progressive Freebie Challenge at The Outlawz

Today's card is for the February Progressive Freebie Challenge at The Outlawz.  The image is Flower Pot Hat from Hetty Clare.

Here's the image in the Hetty Clare Etsy Shop.  It was a tough decision on color choices.  She was colored in a full array of blue/green colors.  She was cut with an oval frame - the matting and papers are from Creative Memories.

Perhaps I should have done a bit of distressing to give it more of an antique feel.  The other challenge participants have done a fabulous job with this image, so be sure to visit the Progressive Freebie Challenge and leave them some love.

New Release at We Are 3

My card today introduces one of the newest members of the We Are 3 family - Emmee.  Isn't she a studious girl - glasses and book!  She has the perfect hair for coloring, and I can see it in a million different colors, can't you?

She's available in the We Are 3 Etsy Shop in both jpg and png.

She's colored digitally.  I cut her with my Eclips and popped her with foam.

The background all came from the GranMargaret's Flowers collection.  I took scraps from this collection and used a color-blocked technique.  The thin black divider lines were done with a marker.

New Release at We Are 3

There's three new releases at We Are 3 - this is the 3rd I'm using.  This adorable gal is Kadee - and behind her I used Pastel Fantasy.  I love digi papers because I'm able to manipulate the scale for my project - lots of options.  So here I increased the scale considerably.

The sentiment is from the Holiday Birthdays set.

I've gotta say I love how this turned out.  It's one of my favorite paper collections, and I had fun coloring Kadee...while my hair needs work, I learned a thing or two here about coloring hair.  To be honest those curls at the bottom intimidated me a bit...I need to work on curls.

New Release at We Are 3

I used digi paper from We Are 3 (Christmas Fun) to create this fancy-fold car.  I added a printable from We Are 3 (Chelsee) and popped her on top.  A sentiment (Life) is attached to the middle layer.

Here's a closeup of the fancy fold - inspired by a card created by Linda Moore.

New Release at We Are 3.

I created this card for a Valentine challenge at A Cherry on Top.  I went for "traditional" and used the gorgeous Little Garden - cut in a heart shape to give the card even more of a Valentine feel.

I added tiny pearls to the fairy's wings.

The fairy is from Design Bundles.  The scroll border design were from Digital Scrapbook Experts.

The gorgeous sentiment came right out of the newly released Fairy Tale set.

Moments to Cherish

The flowers on this card are cut from Washi Tape.  The design is from Susan Bossiere, our local papercrafting guru, who held a free virtual class for us Sunday.
