Full of "Charming" Goodness

This month’s Kerst Christmas challenge theme is "charms." I created a festive holiday card using digital charms and background papers designed by Bonnie Kohane. I absolutely love how the design came together—unquestioningly one of my favorite holiday makes this year!

Project Details & Supplies

  • Focal Image: "It's Snowing" digital stamp by our sponsor, All Dressed Up.
  • Background Paper: Designed by Bonnie Kohane (Available through the Kerst Christmas group).
  • Charms: Bonnie's digital charms are a perfect match. The Merry Christmas charm is still available for free, so be sure to download it from the Kerst Christmas page before it’s gone!
  • Corner Embellishments: I used a greens cut file to add extra holiday goodness to the corners. (Note: These greens are from M L Designs, but I seem to have lost the link—don't you just hate when that happens?)
I'm thrilled with the final result! Be sure to play along with the challenge this month.

Skunk Train

My first tag will serve as a tree ornament. I always buy a Christmas ornament on our summer vacations. This year, though, there were no ne to be found. So I created this tag that will double as a Christmas ornament from our Skunk train trip in California. #ecalscalcreatemaker

Majestic Deer

Took a little siesta from posting while I planned this year's vacation to the Canadian Rocky Mountains.  We had a wonderful trip....and home life is getting back to normal.  So hope to be posting more regularly.

For my card for the Kerst Christmas Challenge, I used Majestic Reindeer from our sponsor, Fairy Hugs.

Candy Ski

I created a fun pop-up card with Candy Ski and A Giant Candy Cane from our sponsor at Kerst Christmas Challenge - The Paper Shelter.

I needed to fill some empty spots, so I used the tree from Candy Ski printed in different sizes.

Vixen with Sheepski Designs

 Welcome, November!

The delicious deer, Vixen,  comes from the Kerst Christmas Challenge sponsor, Sheepski Designs.

I started with a Traci Reed patterned paper (All is Calm) that I love for this challenge - include trees.  I decided to use one pattern in two different sizes.

I couldn't resist adding an adorable frame and border, so I added the Intricate Star Frame and Border from Monica's Creative Room.

I used the inside sentiment from We Are 3's Special Delivery.

Christmas Story

A few years ago, I kicked off the holidays with a Special Needs event here in Rancho with a ride on the Rancho Polar Express and a wonderful Santa Claus that needed to be scrapped.

I used a background from Traci Reed's Beautiful Dreamer kit to make this page, but I wanted the photo to be large and blend into the background.  So I erased some of the photo to blend in with the patterned background paper.  I chose the pale blue heart-patterned paper to give a cool, wintery feel.

All in all, I'm really pleased with how it cam out even though the photo is poor quality - I kind of like the hazy feel of the photo.

Documenting Christmas with A Cup of Sweetness by Mirtillamente

Hello, Everyone!  they say it's finally fall - though the temps here are still triple digit.  However, cooler temperatures are on their way and following is Christmas - inspiring me to create!

Today I'm excited to share a Christmas card - infused with paper designed for fall using the newest paper collection available at We Are 3.  I incorporated the beautiful Autumn Shadows and the fun A Cup of Sweetness by Mirtillamente on this card to celebrate my two favorite seasons.  Mirtillamente is sponsoring this month's Kerst Christmas Challenge.

The monotone colors were perfect for this, and I used several of the paper patterns to digitally paper piece the hat, scarf, and teacup.

I cut several copies of the image and layered the pieces to provide dimension.  Then I added a single poinsettia.  This paper collection is perfect for fall, but the gorgeous patterns and monotones are so rich!

To add additional contrast and texture, I added a frame from Monica's Creative Room.

Winter Delight with We Are 3

My card today features digital paper from We Are 3 called Winter Delight.  I created this using a pattern I put in my stash years ago.

Beautifully decorated house doors always make me happy at Christmas - that's what inspired me about this design.  When I saw the wreath, I  thought the texture from the Winter Delight circles would make a perfect wreath.  Here's a close-up of the layered wreath.  Each wreath layer was attached with foam squares to add extra dimension to the card front.

To bring a little sparkle to the card, I added glitter to my torn layers of snow.

August Christmas Inspiration

What better way to add dimension to a card than with a cascade of layers to create the background? I used an image from the cute Santa's Band set from Last-Minute Manda to create this card (these reindeer are Christmas perfection) - I used a few Framed Topper layers from Monica's Creative Room to create my background.

To make sure the card is festive, I added a layered snowflake embellishment.  I kept it in a color near the background so that it doesn't draw from the bear.  A bit of dimensional adhesive is all  you need to make your card pop!

I hope this inspires you to add dimension to your next card.  I cannot wait to see what you create for the Kerst Christmas Challenge that includes an animal.

Kerst Christmas Challenge: Santa's Band with Last-Minute Manda

Hello, Kerst Friends!  I'm here today to share a new card and an old technique that will have you adding layers to your images!  Today's card is inspired by this week's Featured Stamper at Splitcoast, and using an image from Santa's Band (Last-Minute Manda), I created a tactile element to the card which is always fun for me.  What a fun way to add interest and dimension.
