Not a Square at Kerst Christmas

Here's another for the Kerst Christmas Challenge - this one for the theme "Not Square."  The lovely digital stamp is from our sponsor, Sheepski Designs, called "Christmas Candle."  How could I resist the Mason Jar shape?  I had a heck of a time making a decision about shape and finally found a Mason Jar from Creative Fabrica - a fun shape in my digital stash that suited the theme perfectly.  For the lid, I used my first Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder with a funky basket weave pattern - I obviously did not use the folder correctly....but I still like the funky effect and feel it rounded off the design.

I colored the candle digitally and faded the subtle background using my Eclips.  The holly are from my stash.  The sentiment is Miss Kate Cuttables.

I'm actually several weeks early for our friend Ron's B-day...that's because I received some fun embossing folders for my birthday and had to try one out!   

I hope to come up with some better ideas for this folder, but we'll see how that goes.  This may be the closest embossing foler that brings me back to my roots - that of a typing teacher.  

Christmas Birthday Card

I'm here with a great birthday card for my sister-in-law! It's fast and simple - would make a great mass-produced Christmas card.

To create the card, I chose Time Holtz white embossed cardstock and printed two shades of gray.  The wreath is a wreath found on Amazon.  I used a leftover birthday tag from a scrap kit.  I used a small red circle embellishment for a "door knob."  I matted both layers with white.  I offset the "door" to add some interest.  I chose this "Christmas" theme for a birthday card because my sister-in-law is crafty and talked about making an ornament wreath as shown on this card.  So for her gift, I'm sending a gift card to purchase the supplies.  I hope this card inspires you to make some clean-and-simple Christmas cards for your friends and family!

Angel Kitty with Cheryl Seslar County Clip Art

Hello, All!

I've been working on pet-themed cards - after a while, they all begin to look the same.  Today I made a card featuring Angel Kitties by Cheryl Seslar.  I love how this one turned out. I made a pop-up heart frame, then accented it with clouds and stars in the same digitalfile.  It's a super simple card, but with a punch of color coordinated through the digital file. 

The black chevron and striped cardstocks are from Craftsmith's Natural Luxury...the white embossed cardstock is Tim Holtz.

Hi, Friends!

Hope you have had a good week! Today I am sharing a card featuring Tim Holtz's Snowflake Rosette Die, along with a favorite technique of mine!  The first time I needed a denim pocket, I couldn't find any denim paper!  I found a perfect substitute....took an old pair of jeans, cut a swatch, inked it up with blue ink, and used the fabric as a stamp. I scanned that (so I would always have a denim swatch handy).  Using Photoshop, I added a yellow pocket shape on top of the denim. 

I created the really cute sentiment using Word - and adhered it to the front of the card.  I finished this card off with a Prima flower and a "sun" rosette (rather than a snowflake)!  This card was made for a local SALSA swap with a "pocket" theme.

The swap also includes tags - this month's tag theme is "New Beginnings."  Here is my tag.

Rustic Winter Challenge

Hello, Everybody!  Welcome to my blog - and my entry for Verve Stamps Inspiration Challenge - Rustic Winter.

I love this inspiration - and the concept of rustic winter.  The colors in the inspiration picture are special - and the idea of deer feeding in the woods is a wonderful way to celebrate winter - not to mention Christmas!

What stood out to me in the inspiration picture were the colors - white, brown, and aqua - and the deer and snowflakes.  While my deer are not so "rustic," I love the mixture of craft paper and mixture of colors - including the gold and silver.

House of Cards Challenge

Well, Christmas is near.  EEK!!  I "only" have about 60 cards yet to make.  Yes, yes - I am freaking out!  This past year of full retirement has flown by!

But I do love this time of year!!  Most of my shopping is completed (thank you, Amazon!)  And by evening I continue work on my cards.  One of today's card is inspired by House of Cards challenge.  Here is the photo inspiration.

My first class at Hobby Lobby will be basic cards with a masculine theme.

For these cards, we will be using Idea-ology paper stash from Tim Holtz.  We will also be doing a little embossing to turn plain buttons into gold embellishments.  With clock embellishments, these cards are wonderful any "time" you need a card for the men in your life.  Some of the papers you will use may vary from the samples shown - but all will be from the Idea-ology paper stash.

Winter Frame

Merry Christmas!

I just finished my one and only handmade gift this year...talk about waiting until the last minute.  I got up at 4 a.m. to get it made.  I think the results are beautiful...even though it was created in a hurry.  I hope it will inspire that creative genius within you.
