Terra Nova Papers and Stuck?! Sketches Inspiration

I am taking a breather - finally back at my computer from an unexpected "siesta" after I came home Saturday to find my room ripped apart so my hubby could refinish our computer desk.  I'm enjoying a cup of tea and taking some time to share my layout inspired by Stuck?! Sketches.  This is the main page using their sketch.

In addition, I finally took out my Fuse Tool and put it to work.  I added four additional 6 x 12 layouts, two additional 12 x 8 layouts, and two additional 12 x 4 layouts - fused together to make the layout a bit more interactive - check out this video.

Neebish Island Card

It isn't summer without a trip to Neebish Island! Today I'm featuring a card for the strong women on Neebish Island, Michigan.

My design was especially inspired by Sketch Saturday #415...I immediately saw the oval as the Island - and replaced the flourish with an anchor.

Color Burst makes for a fun background with a watercolor wash. I used the Sprinkle-Spritz technique for the Island. The anchor is embossed craft paper by Tim Holtz - with a Color Burst wash for a striped effect. I white embossed a strip with a wavy design - then colored with watercolors...with the embossed section resisting the watercolor.

The Neebish sentiment makes the island the star of the show. Everything was cut using my Sizzix eClips.

Happy Turkey Day Card!

For me cards are a fun way to put a twist on holiday greetings.  Today I am sharing a Thanksgiving card with - yes - cows (Kadoodle Bug) rather than traditional turkeys!  First inspired by a message from Pat reminding me to join  Outlawz Challenges.  For Twisted Thursday, the twist is using animals.

Anniversary Card with Image Layering

One of my favorite techniques is layering images.  It's a great way to get more dimension on your cards.  Today I have a card inspired by Ann Schach...it is perfect for an anniversary card for my hubby as we will be traveling on the White Pass and Yukon Railroad for our anniversary celebration this year.  This railroad line is an extraordinary trip through Alaska's magnificent mountains and pines.

My eClips overheated cutting the trees - so my trees leave a little to be desired - but here is what I came up with for my sweet hubby.  Thank you, Ann, for your sweet inspiration!
Here's the card from another angle - hopefully showing more dimension.
