One-Stroke Flower of the Week - Cherry Blossom

I know my One-Stroke teacher will love this week's card, and I hope that my coworkers will be inspired to test the waters of One-Stroke painting.  This lovely card features cherry blossoms.  This has been my favorite flower - a simpler way to add a little floral flair to a simple card!

In addition, this card is accented with red - for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge - Anything Goes with a Red Twist.  Be sure to visit their blog - and link up your card to join in the fun.

Feel Better Cards

Hi, All!

I'm still catching up making Get Well cards.  Here are another couple . . .

I used sentiments from Whimsy Stamps on these cards - I just love their word art.  :D

Inside Phrase:  ...but enjoy the mandatory vacation!

Get Well Cards

Hi, All!

I'm still catching up on Get Well cards - here are three more.  These are all super simple - all using scraps from Christmas cardstock left over from last year.

I also used a Whimsy Stamps Get Well Soon sentiment on these cards.  I just love digital word art!  :D

One-Stroke Chrysanthemum Card

Hi, All!

I have another one-stroke card that I created today.

This time the flower is supposed to be a chrysanthemum (thought I'd better tell you, since that's not exactly how they turned out).  I was also practicing thin vines....mine didn't turn out so well - so I used a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps to cover up my mess!

Tiny Birdy

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge Blog is sponsored by Bugaboo Digital Stamps this week.  Their challenge is Anything Goes - with a Twist...the twist being dots or spots.

So for my entry, I'm using the digital image Sign It - Love Birdy from Bugaboo.  Since this is a simple image, I chose to paper piece it rather than color the image.  So I printed the same image on four pieces of coordinated cardstock - a "star-spotted" design for the background, a cream/white/tan/gray print for the "note", a gray tone-on-tone print for the hearts, and yellow for the birdie.  I printed a Get Well message on the "note" paper.  In addition to the "star-spotted" cardstock, I addded a green swiss-dot card background.

This digistamp from Bugaboo is great!  It is a perfect way to "frame" a message - it was easy to paper piece even though the elements are small.

Here are more cards using the same Bugaboo file...I really like the results of the paper piecing.

Paper Scraps Cards

Hi, All!

I have more Thanksgiving cards today.

I wanted to test myself to see if I possibly would be able to use up some non-traditional scraps that I had.  Generally speaking, I'm happy with the results.

Sometimes it's fun to experiment by only using a limited amount of supplies.  It's a great way to expand those artistic skills.

Fun and Vintage Thanksgiving

Who doesn't love sketches? Perfect for card makers! Sketches make cardmaking so much fun and quick, because you can use them in a variety of ways with small variations. These cards follow Sketch #239 from Operation Write Home. Check out their blog and add your interpretation of their sketch to the linky party.

Cut-Out Card

Hi, Everyone!

It's Sketch Saturday Challenge!  Time for inspiration by Sketch Saturday's latest challenge #327.   I am pleased to combin two inspirations I had this morning - of course, the Sketch Challenge - but was also so inspired by a beautiful card I found on Facebook this morning with a cut-out front design.  I can't remember who made the card - sure with to give credit.  When I see it again, I will.  But here is a link to her original picture.

So my card - turned upside down from the original sketch - is featuring a cut-out front - sure to delight with a twist on most cards.  To make this card, I used Valentine Borders from Miss Kate Cuttables and cut the card on my eClips.

Enjoy - and we'll see you back here for next week's Sketch Challenge - if not sooner!

Arizona Ways

Hello, Everyone!

I am very pleased you would visit my blog for my last University of Arizona card for a while.  Making these are a personal favorite of mine - but this time I was scraping bottom for scraps that would work.

Football Thank You

Today I received my first gift for Grandparents' Day - from my three-month-old grandson.  In true cardmaker fashion, I want my grandsons to appreciate gratitude - and no better time to start than to send a thank you for my first gift.

We don't live near Adrian, so mostly know him only through photos and Skype.  In our daily photo sent to all Grandma's, there is a running joke about his watching football - and the debate of his behavior during a football game determining whether he is a Steelers fan or a Lions fan.  So joining in the fun, I made him a shaped thank-you card - with a little Steeler embellishment and a little Lion embellishment.  The card was easy to make - I began with a freebie Thank-You Caption from SVGCuts.com.  I added both a Steelers Logo and Lions Logo.

This card is really a versatile idea and certainly not just for thank you or football!  Fun team embellishments are great for any card scrappin'.

One-Stroke Note

I am going to let you in on a little secret....I began a painting class - Donna Dewberry's One-Stroke technique.  Here is a little sneak peak of what I learned in the first class.  I don't expect to be using this much on my cards....it is NOT as easy as it looks on tv!  Can't wait to see what's in store for me next week!
