Newest Favorite Christmas Cardmaking Product

Happy Friday, y’all! I thought I’d share with you my newest favorite product - Textured Poinsettia Pattern Embossing Folder.  I am a little disappointed they didn't include a die to cut the poinsettias - but even after fussy cutting, they are fun flowers to play with!  Here are the first set of cards I made using this embossing folder.

Anyhow, there's my newest favorite product.  What product are you loving right now? Tell me in the comments. :)

Festive Friday

Hello, All!

For today’s Festive Friday, I wanted to create another simple...but elegant...Christmas card.  I've been making a lot of cards recently, and I wanted something quick and simple to check another task off my list.  I was so pleased with the first card, I was itching to make another one....and another...and another.

Anyhow, for these cards, I decided to make a simple card out of blue cardstock, stamp a Christmas image, and emboss in Piccolo's beautiful micro silver enamel powder.

I had also been wanting to make a tripled stamped card...my first few attempts were not all that impressive.  But after completing a few of these embossed cards, I thought Heartfelt Creations Elegant Holly Swirls would be perfect for this technique.

Here is the rest of the group....enjoy!  And please LINK UP your card by visiting Terri's blog!

Scraps to Treasures - Tic-Tac-Toe

I just love picking out scraps and seeing what I can do with them, don't you?  I love wading through the wonderful textures, beautiful colors, gorgeous patterns and designs - oh, and the lovely memories I have thinking about original projects the papers were purchased for.  I usually buy more than I need...so I generally have more scraps than any one person needs - have you got the picture yet?  I'm a bit of a paper hoarder!!

Our sponsor is Scraps to Treasures, and Robin Scott has a Close To My Heart stamp set to give away to a lucky winner - so give everyone crafty comments along the way.  Lots of really lovely projects made from scraps in this hop - be sure to join your favorite sites so you don't miss a thing!I am so excited to be part of this Tic Tac Toe Blog Hop.  Robin is offering blog candy - A Very Merry Christmas stamp set from Close to My Heart.
To qualify, please leave a comment on each of the blogs. You are not required to follow our blogs but we would certainly love for you to. You don't want to miss out on everything we have planned throughout the  next year!!!.

Our challenge today was to create a project using three "winning" elements on the Tic Tac Toe board above.  My card features the gorgeous Petite Poinsettia stamp from Heartfelt Creations and some Christmas ribbon I bought for pennies after Christmas last year...plus a couple tickets to represent my favorite Christmas story - The Polar Express.

The Tic-Tac-Toe elements in my project include a flower, ticket, and ribbon.  Even my poinsettia is leftover from last month's Scraps to Treasures hop of Christmas Tags.

I added some bling to the center of the poinsettia to give a wonderful finished effect.  For a closer look of the Tic-Tac-Toe elements:

On a personal note...did you know the train in the movie Polar Express is fashioned after the 1225 steam engine kept in Owosso, Michigan...I had the good fortune of engineering this train several years back...just have to add this pic.  :D  Tickets, please!

Another Sneak Peek

Happy Day to everyone!! I hope you've had a marvelous week - enjoying each moment of it!! My hubby's motorcycle didn't want to go to work today - so I was without a vehicle...perfect excuse to stay home and play with paper! And I have been doing that very thing!!

My cards today again are using scraps - I think I've finally exhausted all that zebra-patterned paper I had!  Also playing with my new set of stamps I bought at an estate sale.

Thank you so very much for dropping by today; I hope to see you again very soon. Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!

Expressions of Gratitude - Veterans' Day Hop

Good Morning!

Today we will be sharing creations with a Veteran's Day theme  as part of the Veteran's Day Hop sponsored by Paper Shenaniganz!
To start it all off, I made a simple card thanking our heroes...using  wordart from Operation Write Home.

I also want to share a card I made featured on Cool2Craft.

Today I also want to remember our Fallen Heroes with a small memorial made  in memory of Army Sgt. Jeremy E. Depottey from Newberry, Michigan, and our cousin, Army Master Sgt. Anthony R. C. Yost from Flint, Michigan. Fallen Heroes Memorials were erected in their home towns.  This project is a gift to my sister, Lori Miller, who devoted an extraordinary amount of time leading fundraising activities for Sgt. Depottey's memorial.

Thanks for hopping by!  Happy Veterans' Day to all those who have served.

The Robin's Nest DT Application

Hi All!

I'm excited to be answering the Design Team Call for The Robin's Nest.  The idea for my project submission started with my desire to create Christmas cards in non-traditional colors.  I also wanted to use the great Santa face rub-on available through The Robin's Nest.

While brainstorming ideas on what I wanted my project to look like, I thought about my favorite color combination - green and purple.  This is what I came up with...I love the look.  :D

Papers used for these cards all come from The Robin's Nest collection:
The Santa and Holly are also from The Robin's Nest product line of Christmas Rub-Ons.  Poinsettias and one card are embellished with Dew Drops from the Winter Retreat collection by The Robin's Nest.

Additional tools and supplies used include
  • Layered Poinsettia Die - Spellbinders
  • Crystal UltrafineTransparent Glitter - Art Glitter
  • Moss Green Glitter - Glitter Ritz
  • Ribbon
  • SVG Cut files:
    • One-Piece Boxes, Box 1, Accent Top (Used for card base for all cards)
    • One-Piece Boxes, Box 3, Accents
    • Santa's Visit, Quick Box, White Accent
You can download free printable detailed instructions for each card at http://shortonideas.net/111112shortchristmascards.pdf  These instructions include sizes of paper, as well as step-by-step assembly instructions.  If you have any questions as you recreate these cards, leave a comment below, and I will be glad to respond.

After completing my cards, I had lots of Rub-Ons left over...so they provided a quick way to finish the cards with inside accents.

These cards are simple, yet the paper collection and vintage Santa face bring an elegance to this simple card.

If you get a chance, stop by The Robin's Nest Facebook and tell them what you think of my project!  Your thoughts below are also appreciated!  Thanks.

Festive Friday Blog Hop

By simply adding a beautiful cardinal from Heartfelt Creations to festive paper, a simple Christmas card turns into an elegant greeting.

Add some dimension by adding a pop-up greeting inside...perfect for a special holiday greeting.  The pop-up was cut cut with Sure Cuts a Lot.  Finish the inside off with poinsettias from Rubber Tapestry.
