Splitcoast Stampers Featured Stamper #825

I'm not the most creative, but as soon as I saw this week's Featured Stamper card, I knew I'd be using paper I could turn into candy-cane stripes and using items from my stash.  I love the sentiment rotated to print in between the stripes.  What also made it so perfect for this challenge is that I got to use yet another border from Monica's Creative Room - so I had all that I needed in my computer and stash.

The sentiment was a bit of a challenge and, I have to admit, I nearly walked away from it several times - but I kept at it and in the end, it turned out great.  The sentiment is a We Are 3 sentiment - Both of Us.

I hope you find this inspiring and come join the Featured Stamper Challenge.

Happy Birthday

I tend to have a hard time with masculine cards.  This idea was inspired by an adorable tri-fold card I saw on Etsy.  I decided on all trees.  The beautiful trees are from Ink and Dot....colored digitally.  I layered different trees from the set and cut to be a tri-fold card.  I found the perfect deer at Creative Fabrica - and added a birthday sentiment for my brother-in-law's birthday.  Too cute, eh?

SunRise SunSet from We Are 3

My sister's birthday calls for a special birthday card - so, of course, I used a digital paper from We Are 3 - called SunRise SunSet.  I  I chose a digi from Creative Fabrica called Desert Scene to add to the sun.  I sized the paper so that the desert scene fit the sun.  I printed a second copy and cut out the flower to add for dimension.

I digitally paper pieced the flower with another portion of the SunRise SunSet so that it matches and has the texture of the digi paper.  This just involves layering the Desert Scene on top of the digi paper...and erasing all of paper you don't want to show through.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I just added some matting, and we're good to go.

The Outlawz Challenges - Paper Ala Mode

WooHoo!  I actually finished a product for Paper Ala Mode on time!

I created a scrapbook layout using papers and stickers from Krafted with Copper from Creative Memories.  I've been wanted to create layouts with photos that fill the width of a 12" page - no way of getting that printed at my favorite Walmart photo department.  So today I printed a photo with my new Canon printer.  Unfortunately I can't share photos of my grandson, but the 12" photo is fabulous!  Not sure how long it'll last....but I'm happy if it at least lasts long enough for him and his mother to see.

The title was computer generated.

Please check out the fabulous creations at Paper Ala Mode and come play along.  Here's how to join the fun.

Wednesday Sketch Challenge at The Outlawz

So many plans....and so hard to get motivated to accomplish them!  LOL!  Still have not recovered from having the house painted....can't find my wall art cutting files....or even the fonts I used to reproduce.  So Just managing to sneak in a little time for a challenge or two.  The sketch is from the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at The Outlawz - I used the sketch to create a scrapbook layout. It's a winter scene - but the papers are Cookie Monster (Cookie Monster eyes and Chocolate Chips) for my 2-year-old niece who loves Cookie Monster.

Yikes!  Just found out I missed the challenge!  LOL!  Oh, well....got a layout completed.

Progressive Freebie for The Outlawz

For this month's Progressive Freebie Challenge at The Outlawz, I chose to create a tag and used We Are 3's Canvas Dreams for the background behind my snowman, lacy frame, and tag.

I used the preprinted version of the snowman (Seasons Tweetings - Wink, Wink Ink) and cropped him just a bit to fit into the circle.  You can clearly see and enjoy the amazing detail in this image.

Just for practice, I decide to add the jewels with hot-fix rhinestones, so it took quite a while as this was just my second attempt at this process. I can see I didn't create the straight line I hoped to, but learned much during the process.

I used Love SVG's Coral Monogram Frames for this project.  Be sure to check out The Outlawz to see the fabulous inspiration from the participants and come play along.

New Christmas Goodies from We Are 3

I'm thrilled to be back today with We Are 3's latest releases - Hello Santa printable image and Ho Ho Ho digital papers.  Could anything be more exciting  After a very hot summer for many of us, it's finally safe to say that fall is here - though I keep hearing of Midwest temps matching our Southwest temps.  Winter will soon be coming around the corner, though - and these two new beauties are ready for you to celebrate the winter holidays.  Here's Hello Santa - as bright and jolly as the holidays should be.  Isn't he precious?  I used papers from the new Ho Ho Ho digital collection and some holly from Power Poppy.  The sentiment is computer generated.  The border is Monica's Creative Room.

I paper pieced Santa for dimension...Here's a closeup.  Santa comes precolored, as well as a shaded version that can be colored for more interest.  I generally forget fine details like glitter - but did remember this time - just really adds to the final version.

Tell me you're not excited about this cutie!  You know you want this Santa!  So here's where you can find him.

Eclips Users Group Christmas Tags

The Eclips Users Group Christmas Tag Challenge ends in just a few days - this is the first year I'm not looking for ideas last minute.  Thanks to so many companies giving ornament freebies, it's been a cinch this year to make some simple - but useful - Christmas tags.

Decided on a freebie from Dreaming Tree this morning using their new Gift Box Hang Tag and a snowflake from my stash.

Christmas Presents

One good thing about having to color digital images, I can forget all the mess that's on my work desk behind me.  Since I had a little extra time on my hands today, I decided to practice clothing folds - digitally - using Christmas Presents from our sponsor at Kerst - All Dressed Up.  One thing nice about designing is that we are expected to use specific images - images that I would probably never buy - this forces me to color out of my comfort zone.

It is hard to see in the photo, buy my wings ARE actually transparent.  I can see the stars from the background through my wings.  By happenstance, I selected some paper for the background - I was looking for something with some pattern, but not too busy or loud.  By viewing the icons on the computer, I really wasn't sure what this pattern was until I loaded it up.  What a happy coincidence!  Our theme is stars - and this background paper just happens to be full of stars!!!!  How lucky could I get for my first choice!

I did calculate wrong when printing my image and sentiment - but was thrilled to find a solution by leaving a white border just on the sides rather than a full mat.  I was planning to mat and fussy cut my image - but I liked the bold sentiment - so decided if I went with a single-layer design, I could overlap the image and sentiment and have the best of both worlds\ for this month's Kerst Christmas Challenge.

Joy

I used Sledging Pup from our Kerst Challenge sponsor, All Dressed Up, a starry background (star is the theme), and a Joy sentiment.  Everything is digital - easy peasy!  The papers are from We Are 3 - Moon Desert (retired) and Just a Song.  I also have a touch of Real Wood Textures in there from Design Bundles.

Guest Designer with LeighSBDesigns

It’s a good day – I have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for LeighSBDesigns – Woo Hoo!  My card is all about heart – specifically Heart Blooms.

I digitally colored the image and used Print2Cut to cut five different hearts in varying sizes. I layered the hearts to create one fully bloomed textured heart.  I added a sentiment from the set printed on digital “foil” paper – cutting out a spot to place my heart.  I added a textured background, some gems, and a bow and called it done.

I really enjoyed coloring the heart digitally.  It's so beautiful and feminine.  I also added some gems to jazz it up a bit.  Thank you, Leigh SB Designs, for having me as a guest designer.

I also have to give a shout out to The Outlawz - Leigh SB Designs was the sponsor for a challenge I won through The Outlawz.
