Pimp Out Showcase with Deezy Does It!

If you are looking for the Butterflies Blog Hop, go here!

This week my blog is being showcased in the

Pimp-Out/Showcase Hop!!!
Brought to you by Deezy Does It!

Thanks, Wanda, for inviting me!

This "Weekly" Pimp-Out/Showcase Hop is to gain new followers, as well as bring more traffic to your blog and - at the same time - receive greater exposure.  It is also a great way to meet other bloggers, exchange ideas, get great tips and learn new techniques - all while showing your "art."

Before we begin, there are just a few simple rules to the hop.

1. Follow the Host (first link):
2. Follow the showcased blogger: Short on Ideas (second link)
3. Link up below using Linky Tools.
4. Visit at least 3 blogs from the linked up list below and leave a comment.  Let them know you came from the Weekly "Pimp-Out/Showcase" Hop and inform them you are a follower so they can return the favor.
~Please remember that if someone from the hop follows you, be sure to return the favor~

Welcome to my Showcase. My name is Camille Short (Short on Ideas) – and I admit to being a craftaholic, as well as a procraftinator! I have been papercrafting for about eight years now! I got my start when my new husband mistook a sarcastic remark about wanting to scrapbook seriously . . . and surprised me with about $300 of crafting goodies for my 50th birthday. The good news was that he was listening – the bad news was I wanted NOTHING to do with crafting! But being newlyweds, I humored him and signed up for some classes . . . OMG! It did not take me long to become addicted! In addition, he never complains about how much time or money I spend on my crafting – since it’s all his fault anyways!

I’m a retired educator who has always enjoyed showing people how to do things. After a move to Arizona from Michigan, I began teaching papercrafting classes at AZ Scrapbooking in Green Valley, Arizona. AZ has a great design team who brings inspiration to all their meetings – after a few years with them, I was inspired to share my talents with others through design teams. I first designed for Hobby Baby (sister company to Globecraft Memories and Piccolo Décor). I am currently designing for The Robin’s Nest – my favorite products being their Fleur Cardstock, Glittered Cardstocks, and Dew Drops!  I recently returned to work full time at Hobby Lobby as Office Manager . . . and when I won’t be bookkeeping, you will be able to find me in the Papercrafting section!
Since working full time has crimped my crafting time, I didn’t get anything new made for this showcase. But I do want to share a couple of my all-time favorite projects.
My wedding album is still sitting in the bottom of a full closet – perhaps ¼ finished. (Guessing that will never be completed!) However, I was inspired at a CHA Convention to get my favorite wedding photos on the wall. In this project, a 12 x 12 canvas is scrapbooked – embellished with three Globecraft frames at the bottom. (Step-by-step instructions can be found on the post Eyes of Love.)

I enjoy creating cards more than anything else. My cards can be purchased at Luke’s Italian Beef Restaurant and the Medicine Shoppe in Tucson, as well as Fort Wilkins Gift Shop in Copper Harbor, Michigan. These Christmas cards using Robin’s Nest Cardstock are some of my favorites.

When you have some free time on your hands, browse through my blog’s older posts and visit some of my other fun projects!

Thank you, Deezy Does It, for inviting me to share my passion in the Pimp Out Showcase!

Festive Friday

Hello, All!

For today’s Festive Friday, I wanted to create another simple...but elegant...Christmas card.  I've been making a lot of cards recently, and I wanted something quick and simple to check another task off my list.  I was so pleased with the first card, I was itching to make another one....and another...and another.

Anyhow, for these cards, I decided to make a simple card out of blue cardstock, stamp a Christmas image, and emboss in Piccolo's beautiful micro silver enamel powder.

I had also been wanting to make a tripled stamped card...my first few attempts were not all that impressive.  But after completing a few of these embossed cards, I thought Heartfelt Creations Elegant Holly Swirls would be perfect for this technique.

Here is the rest of the group....enjoy!  And please LINK UP your card by visiting Terri's blog!

Expressions of Gratitude - Veterans' Day Hop

Good Morning!

Today we will be sharing creations with a Veteran's Day theme  as part of the Veteran's Day Hop sponsored by Paper Shenaniganz!
To start it all off, I made a simple card thanking our heroes...using  wordart from Operation Write Home.

I also want to share a card I made featured on Cool2Craft.

Today I also want to remember our Fallen Heroes with a small memorial made  in memory of Army Sgt. Jeremy E. Depottey from Newberry, Michigan, and our cousin, Army Master Sgt. Anthony R. C. Yost from Flint, Michigan. Fallen Heroes Memorials were erected in their home towns.  This project is a gift to my sister, Lori Miller, who devoted an extraordinary amount of time leading fundraising activities for Sgt. Depottey's memorial.

Thanks for hopping by!  Happy Veterans' Day to all those who have served.

In case you get lost along the way, here is the entire lineup:

Festive Friday - Southwest Christmas

For this week’s Festive Friday card, I thought I would make a Southwest-themed Christmas to include in my "ongoing" cowboy - western - Southwest request.. And the stamps to use for the job are two of my favorites - Animal Spirits Cactus and Petite Poinsettia Stamp Set from Heartfelt Creations.
These cards are actually super simple with mainly layered poinsettia leaves and a cactus.. Super easy and you can actually mass produce - yet vary the card - by different paper and placing the pieces in different locations.  Embellishments are embossed in copper or gold for that extra Southwest festive flair.
Enjoy!

SUPPLIES
Solid Card Stock: Red, Green, White
Patterned Paper: Christmas "scraps", Aumnt scraps (give a Southwest touch)

Globecraft Memories - Halloween Graveyard Haunting

I hope everyone is having a fabulous fall!  For this month's project, I wanted to celebrate Halloween - in particular Halloween Graveyard Haunting!  There's certainly a trend toward decorating for Halloween as we generally do for Christmas.  Globecraft Memories ornaments are perfect for the celebration!
When I first approached this project, I had ideas...but really wasn't sure how to execute them.  And here's my confession...I was having so much fun creating - I FORGOT to take pictures along the way!  However, steps are outlined below...and what's more important - I summon you to give this a haunted try!

Supplies Used
Instructions
  • Cover the middle layer of the Little Fancy Oval Bubble Frame with Green Cardstock.  Distress edges with black ink.  (Use the rest of the bubble frame for another project!)
  • Emboss the Orange Cardstock with Sizzix Embossing Plate (Flower Rings).  Distress flowers with black ink.
  • Emboss the center layer (design) of the Halloween Graveyard Haunting Ornament with Black Embossing Powder.  For a matte look, Copic markers work well!  Actually, just about any media works great - try your favorite!
  • The ornament frame comes with two bubbles.  Paint the back bubble with Black Acrylic Paint.  You will need to paint several layers - allowing to dry between layers.  Acrylic paint dries quickly, though, so this project can be finished rather quickly.
  • Once the back bubble is solidly coated with Black Acrylic Paint, add one more layer.  While this layer is still wet, sparingly cover with Silver Glitter for that full-moonlight effect.  Allow to dry - shake off any excess glitter before assembling bubble frame.
  • Assemble Bubble Frame - Orange Layer on top of Black Embossed Design Layer on top of Green Layer.
  • Add Ribbon Bow to the Ornament Hole.
BTW, here's your chance to get 25% off your entire next order from Globecraft Memories/Piccolo Decor!  Enter Coupon Code TS25 on your next order for your discount - This discount is only good through Halloween, so be sure to stock up now!

World Cardmaking Day!

Hello Peeps!  How are you?  Ready for World Cardmaking Day?  I do believe I'll be working on my cowboy - ranching - western - Southwest cards - but I see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Here's a sample of what I made today.  Got the great horse stamp from Mark's Finest Papers - I'm not a western card fan...but loving this horse!  It's awesome embossed with Piccolo Vintage Copper or Gilded Rose Gold Enamel Powders - as shown in the second horse.  Remember, you can get this great Enamel Powders - and other great colors - from Globecraft Memories.  Enter Code TS25 for 25% off your entire order!

The roadrunner and coyote from  ards below are using other favorite stamps - Animal Spirits (still waiting for my quail!)

Have a great cardmaking day!

Scraps to Treasure Blog Hop - Bookmarks

Hi all! Welcome to my first Scraps to Treasure September Bookmarks Swap Hop. If you arrived here from Cicily’s blog, you are in the right place. If you just happened to “open the book” to my chapter, please start at Chapter 1 which is Paula’s blog at http://preciouspagesbypaula.blogspot.com/.

This month our group of frugally fantastic crafters have made bookmarks for each other. We are excited to share this fun idea with all our readers. If you want to try this and do not have a large group of friends to do a swap like this, you can do it with just 2 or 3 people.

Our wonderful sponsor for this hop is My Creative Time!

Be sure to comment on EACH blog for BOTH days to be entered into the drawing!

Also be sure to follow any instructions on each blog for any fun goodies they may be giving away!

Here are bookmarks I made to share with my friends. First, using scraps of paper; second, I wanted to include my favorite enamel powder - Piccolo Vintage Copper; and third, I wanted to create something quick, as I am off to my son's wedding tomorrow! I did the last by using my Martha Stewart punches rather than my favorite svg files. :)

Anyhow, enjoy!

This group is all about your scraps, using them up in a big way so they don't just keep piling up for little bits here and there. Scraps is the name; Treasures is the game!
CHALLENGE: Create a bookmark with scraps of paper.

Here is the basic bookmark I created.

Since we are using scraps, here is the same bookmark in a variety of color combinations - limited to the scrap pile I chose from!

You Can Leave Your Hat On

Today's project is a gift for my friend, Pat Bolda.  I loved this pic of her daughter in this fun hat - so thought it would make a great gift.  Remember as you explore this project, you can save 25% off your entire Globecraft Memories  purchase - enter Discount Code TS25 when you checkout!
The project is a one-drawer easel box.

 Supplies for box:
   Chipboard - two pieces - 5-1/2" x 6-1/2"
   Cardstock for drawer assembly:
      Frame - 11-3/4" x 9-1/2"
Pull Drawer - 8-1/2" x 9-1/2" (Actually I used these measurements - then trimmed off 1/8" to make the drawer slide in/out easily)
      Bottom/Top Covers - two pieces - 5-1/2" x 6-1/2"
      Box Side/Back - two pieces - 1-3/4" x 5"; one piece - 1-3/4" x 6"
      Drawer Sides - two pieces - 1-3/4" x 5"; two pieces - 1-3/4" x 6"
      Drawer Pull - one piece - 4-1/4" x 3/4"; one piece 4" x 1/2"
      Two brads

Box Assembly:
Cut chipboard for top and bottom.  Cover with cardstock.

Chipboard - 5-1/2" x 6-1/2"
Covered Chipboard - Cardstock used unknown source
Cut cardstock for drawer frame as shown below...red lines are score lines.

Assemble as shown in following pictures.
TIPS:
The color you want to be see should be INSIDE (Bo Bunny SUN Kissed Skies shown here - the clouds will be covered.)
Glue the middle tabs BETWEEN the top and bottom layers.
Frame - 11-3/4" x 9-1/2"

Cover sides and back with cardstock.  Note:  Even if you already like the outside cardstock pattern, cover sides and back to give box strength.

Drawer Assembly:

Cut cardstock for drawer frame as shown below...red lines are score lines.

Assemble as shown in following picture.
TIPS:
The color you want to be see should be INSIDE ( (Bo Bunny SUN Kissed Skies shown here - the clouds will be covered.)
Glue tabs OUTSIDE the box.  They will be covered.
Assemble Drawer Pull.  Cut two strips of cardstock using dimensions above.  Attach to front cardstock panel with brads BEFORE adhering to drawer...this provides strength to open drawer without tearing cardstock.  Glue sides, back, and front to assembled drawer.

Glue top and bottom to drawer frame.

Supplies for Easel:
   Cardstock - 10" x 6"
   Cardstock - 5" x 6"
   Cardstock - 3" x 5"
   Cardstock - 1/2" x 5"

Score and fold large piece of cardstock in half to be 5" x 6".  Score and fold the top half at 2-1/2".  Glue bottom half to top of box assembly.  Glue 5" x 6" cardstock ON BOTTOM HALF ONLY so it will fold up as an easel as show below.

Glue 1/2" strip at top of 3" x 5" cardstock.  Glue to inside bottom  of easel - glue front edge flat; use pop-dots at back edge to serve as a stop for the easel when open.

Supplies for Globeframe Embellishment
Middle layer of Little Fancy Oval Bubble Frame.
Strip of cardstock - accordion folded at 1/4"
   Red Ink Pad
   Flowers/Leaf
   Feathers
   Ribbon
   Liquid Pearls - Cantaloupe used
Butterfly Punch - Martha Stewart 3-in-1 Classic Butterfly
Any rubber stamp - Flourish Squares used

Rectangle Frame:  Emboss with  Piccolo Butterscotch Enamel Powder.  Distress by rubbing red ink pad over embossed frame.

My intent was to emboss the oval frame in red.  As I didn't have any red embossing powder, I decided to ink the frame in red and emboss with a clear powder.  However, after just inking the frame in red, I loved the rugged wood-like appearance and decided to leave well enough alone!

I also embossed flourishes from Piccolo Decor Set #3 and Piccolo Decor Set #10 in Piccolo Butterscotch Enamel Powder and distressed by rubbing in red ink pad.
For the accordion embellishment on the lower left of the frame, I accordion folded a piece of yellow cardstock, distressed it with red ink, then randomly stamped a flourish design with red ink.

My final assembly in detailed pics:

Supplies for Inside Sentiment
Sentiment - Children WordArt from http://lazydaisydesigns.blogspot.com used.
Distress Inks - Crimson Red and Toffee used
   Piccolo Butterscotch Enamel Powder
   Feathers

Decorate inside of easel card as desired.  I printed the WordArt to fit and distressed the senitment with Red and Toffee inks.  The Piccolo pieces are embossed with Piccolo Butterscotch Enamel Powder and distressed with red ink to match bottom layer of frame.  Feathers - and good to go!

You can order Bubble Frames, Piccolo Decor, and Enamel Powder - not to mention all kinds of fun items - from Globecraft Memories - Use Discount Code TS25 to get 25% Off your entire order!
