Mystery Item - Plastic Fork
For Salsa each month, we receive a mystery item to use in cards made for a card swap. This month's item - a plastic fork.
My card - the fork just adds dimension to an already dimensional farm card using Pumpkin Card files from SVGCuts.com The plastic fork serves double purpose as a pitchfork stuck in the hay in this fun card.

The card does fold flat to insert in a standard envelope (though that fork should cause some problem in mailing!)
Let's also pay some special attention to one of my new favorite products - Piccolo Pure Sparkle Gold Glitter from Globecraft Memories. I used the glitter for the center of the flower and the butterfly...here are some close-up pics.
The pics don't do them justice...but that butterfly shines like a piece of 100% Fool's Gold!

Let Nothing Go Umbellished!
This spring, I thought I finally found the cowboy hat I've been looking for at Tucson's 4th Avenue Street Fair...I realized it was something I really liked when I got home and saw it was the exact same hat I bought my husband during our last trip to the 4th Avenue Street Fair! Now I wasn't too impressed...and have not worn the hat since.
During our Durango trip, I found a different hat band (that I could afford - boy, cowboys can spend big bucks on hat bands!) - even then I couldn't let my hat go unembellished - just what kind of scrapper would I be!
A new feather hat band - some flowers by Avania Floral Embellishments - and new Piccolo Charms (Feathers) embossed with Piccolo Vintage Copper Enamel Powder. This ain't just any cowgirl's hat now!

Two-Minute Card
Need some cards fast (as usual every month when I need to restock my inventory!). Had some silver gray vellum that needs to be used up...and wanting to get more familiar with my Piccolo Enamel Powders. This card is one of those treasures I just need to share! Not really having a plan, as soon as I did the background in Temple Stone Enamel Powder...I had a two-minute treasure!
This picture doesn't really do it justice, but this turned out to be a terrific - not to mention fast and easy - card! The background is that silver fray vellum I want to get rid of (and I seldom throw anything away!) I used a brushmark background stamp - embossed with Piccolo Temple Stone. I embossed the butterfly with Piccolo Gilded Rose Gold. See in this next picture how the gold butterfly picks up gold specks in the Temple Stone background.
And it took all of two minutes! Need to be making a few of these...and I'm sure I can get it down to one minute! Quick, easy, gorgeous card!

Zentangled Airship
This may be a pretty kitschy project, but I'm loving it after having completed it. Steampunk Airships
have been catching my eye for months now. Zentangle, as well, always
makes me stop in my tracks. Yet I have no real love for either.
Hmmmm....For some odd reason, I found combining the two to be
intriquing.
Beginning with the Mini Steampunk Airship from Globecraft Memories, I Zentangled the frame, some hot-air balloons in the globe, and part of the tail. I debated whether to use traditional steampunk coloring - however, my Zentangle preference is pure black and white - or at the very least bright colors...so I added a touch of red for color. I do feel you can nover go wrong with red, black, and gold! Accented with Piccolo enamel powders - Textured Black, Gilded Rose Gold, and Butterscotch, I am liking my finished airship!

Shhhhhh.....It's a Secret!
Finished my hubby's anniversary gift this morning...and I just cannot wait to give it to him! So I'm sharing it with all of you....shhhh...don't give the surprise away!
Really I just wanted to share how fun the Stkr.It QR Code stickers are. For all of you at AZ Scrapbooking - watch for a class in August!
At our monthly Salsa meeting last week, Virgie, Charlene, and Elaine taught the group to make a small explosion box. Now I've done explosion boxes...never thrilled me much. But I'd been wondering what to do special for my hubby's anniversary card...and I had an ah-hah moment!
So there's the box. The fabulous flower is by Avania Floral Embellishments (Thanks, Pat!). I attached the flower and ribbons with a velcro strip so the gift can be opened and closed over and over without having to retie a bow....and that's just what I've been doing all day!
Okay...so it's going to be an explosion box - but where do I take it from there? Let's see - eight small squares to work with - and it just happens to be our 8th anniversary. So each border square was scrapped with a picture commemorating a past anniversary.
We can't forget the embellishments! Flowers & Flourishes from Piccolo Card Decor Set #9 - embellished with Piccolo Girls' Night Out Enamel Powder - were perfect for the small space I had to embellish.
Now...closer to the real gift. In the center is a small message to Gene - you can see his instructions are to Lift and Scan.
When he lifts the flap, there is a QR Code from Stkr.It - of course, embellished with Piccolo Decor!
He will take his phone and scan the QR code . . .
and get more instructions! (Why should our anniversary be any different than any other day...now I can just give my orders via a QR Code!)
He clicks REVIEW - and he learns what his real gift is. I know it will just take him seconds to figure it out...how about you?

Burnished Velvet
It's been a while since I've taken Els' (Elizabeth Craft Designs) workshop on burnished velvet. I missed a step...but FINALLY figured it out. Liking my first attempt.
