Butterfly Wishes - Day 4

Hello!

I've been featuring cards with butterflies made from scraps. But for today’s card, I wanted to do a bit of something more special for my friend's birthday.. This time I chose to use the Raindrops on Roses paper collection that I won - compliments of Heartfelt Creations. My friend loves vintage - so perfect! And I might have to restate about those scraps, because I dug into this paper collection so quickly and have made many Easter cards and a wedding card for my daughter - I actually pretty much have only scraps left!

Box cards are all the rage now - and I wanted to do something different for my friend, as she sees most of my cards (she sells them for me in her restaurant). And I've been wanting to try to a box card - so perfect timing.

My card did miss something when I was finished....so Martha Stewart's butterfly punch always comes in handy to add a finishing touch.

Enjoy today's card!

Butterfly Wishes - Day 1

Spring is only a month away! Now is the time to get ready - and butterflies make birthday wishes a real treat! Butterflies I am using on the next several cards come from a digital image. When printing a number of these for wedding invitations I was making, printer ink began running low, and I didn't get the nice black image on many, many (many, many) attempts. Being the hoarder that I am, I stashed them away and one day had a card that needed something soft. These images were perfect! I then began using these butterflies on everything! Thus, I will be posting birthday cards with butterflies for the next several days. Hope you'll flutter by each day!

Congratulatory Cards - Day 2

Good Morning, All!

Can you believe we are at the end of February? Wow, the year is just flying by!

For today's cards, I needed more congratulatory cards. The Sherlock Mouse digital stamp I used for these is from 2 Cute Ink. I used it both as a stamp and as an .svg file to glitter. I love using the burnished-velvet technique on .svg files...just a cool effect.

Baby Decor

Today's project celebrates babies. This is room decor I made for a coworker when his first baby was born.  It offers a little of everything inspired by babies - sweet flowers, pearls, a globe frame full of memories, and Winnie the Pooh, of course!  This papercraft project makes a great addition to any baby's room.

Get Creative with a Little Hairy Embellishment

For my birthday, my daughter-in-law and son sent some scrappin' supplies with a Mustache theme - with the challenge to create and post. A month later, as they celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary, you know I had to use some of those supplies to wish them the best. So here is my cute card for them.

Simple Card Boot Camp

Morning, All!

These cards were SUPER fast!  Flower dies such as this Delicate Aster from Heartfelt Creations make it easy to mass produce - no inking really necessary.  Cut lots of flowers from various papers - takes only a few minutes.  Then dig into your scraps and assemble simple cards - made more elegant with the Delicate Asters and Dew Drops from The Robin's Nest.  Enjoy!

Babies Galore - Scraps to Treasures Challenge

Welcome to the Scraps to Treasures Challenge - Babies Galore!

To celebrate the pending birth of Robin's 6th grandbaby, we are creating baby-themed cards, layouts or altered items. I'm also celebrating the pending birth of my first - and today I learned - my second grandbaby!  So let's celebrate babies!  If you haven't already visited Scraps to Treasures, click here to do so to see what our fabulous design team has created as inspiration for you.

I needed baby cards, so when I pulled out my "baby color" scraps, I was on a roll. Some of these scraps are from the first papers I purchased as a scrapper like ten years ago. Sometimes it really pays off to be a hoarder! The butterflies you'll see on many of these cards are scraps from wedding invitations I made for my niece this past summer. My printer was running out of ink, so instead of getting nice butterfly background, I ended up with lots of pages of washed-out butterflies. But adding a little pink and blue Copic to them, that washed-out effect was perfect for these cards!  The sentiments are from Pictures by Drehi - Baby WordArt (freebies).

Now we want to see what you can "bring to life" using your scraps. Visit Scraps to Treasures to link your project for a chance to win a RAK!

Valentine Card

Wow, the year is flying by as quickly as I'd hope after planning to fully retire this coming December - only 291 more days, but who's counting? The bad thing about this year flying by....no time to get any projects done! TA DA! It's Valentine's Day ! So today I chose another card that's made from scraps. It goes against all rules for using patterned paper - but I still like it for a change of pace - quick and simple.

Building-Block Card - Queen of Cards Week 6

We all know that folding cards in unique ways give our cards a creative look and work for any occasion.  This weeks Queen of Cards Challenge calls for a "Building-Block" card.  Here is my card - with a St. Patrick's Day wish.

Valentine Talk

Jearise at Lorby's World devotes her blog to projects to help others.  I had a wonderful time creating this card to include in her hope to bring cheer to veterans in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  We sent cards to the Grand Rapids Veteran's home.  This is the card I sent (just no time to do more, unfortunately).

Join us at Lorby's World of Caring Facebook Page to be included in future random acts of kindness.  Nice of Jearise to do all the leg work of selecting those in need, getting all the details down, then inviting us to just do what we enjoy most - making cards that bring smiles to faces of others...she doesn't quit there.....she finds challenges for us to join with our cards...and also promotes them on her own blog.  Thanks, Jearise - great idea!

Love is in the Air

One of my loves in cardmaking is making cards tone on tone.  So when my little sis asked for a special wedding card, I immediately had specific ideas in mind.  Her request - for a U.P. wedding in late January.  Those of you from Michigan and Wisconsin know that is insane in the first place!  And this year's weather certainly provided the snow the couple must have desired - so much so, that my sister wasn't even able to get to the wedding.  Her other requests were to include birch trees and pine cones.  Here is my design.

Have to admit, I forgot where I found the birch tree, church, and couple files.  The pinecones are from the Pinecones and Berries file from Miss Kate Cuttables.

Much to my sister's surprise - when the couple posted pictures of their wedding - their cake colors matched this card perfectly....and even included a U.P. Wedding topper.
