Operation Write Home - Sketch Challenge #231

The Fourth of July is looming, and so in celebration I'm filling an order for some Any Hero Cards.  Since I do try to relax on Sunday, I enjoy Operation Write Home's Sunday Sketch Challenges - they allow me to accomplish a lot of crafting with very little thinking on my part.  Today's Sketch Challenge is #231.  You'll find their sketches are always useful - really versatile - and their linky parties provide you with plenty of inspiration - perfect for birthdays, celebrations, and general everyday card needs - not just for Any Hero cards!

Bursting with patriotic colors, I decided to forego the usual gorgeous embellishments and floral papers for a simple red, white, & blue card with a splash of sparkle with the silver foil background. I also turned the sketch upside down.

My second card adorns a dog tag - compliments of my financial advisor who always sends a little something for the 4th of July.  I included a small envelope on the inside of the card to hold the dog tag chain so the recipient can use the dog tag for some other purpose.

Check out Operation Write Home's Sketch Challenge - and don't forget to join in the fun and share your creation(s) with us all on the Operation Write Home blog!

Valentine Talk

Jearise at Lorby's World devotes her blog to projects to help others.  I had a wonderful time creating this card to include in her hope to bring cheer to veterans in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  We sent cards to the Grand Rapids Veteran's home.  This is the card I sent (just no time to do more, unfortunately).

Join us at Lorby's World of Caring Facebook Page to be included in future random acts of kindness.  Nice of Jearise to do all the leg work of selecting those in need, getting all the details down, then inviting us to just do what we enjoy most - making cards that bring smiles to faces of others...she doesn't quit there.....she finds challenges for us to join with our cards...and also promotes them on her own blog.  Thanks, Jearise - great idea!

Expressions of Gratitude - Veterans' Day Hop

Good Morning!

Today we will be sharing creations with a Veteran's Day theme  as part of the Veteran's Day Hop sponsored by Paper Shenaniganz!
To start it all off, I made a simple card thanking our heroes...using  wordart from Operation Write Home.

I also want to share a card I made featured on Cool2Craft.

Today I also want to remember our Fallen Heroes with a small memorial made  in memory of Army Sgt. Jeremy E. Depottey from Newberry, Michigan, and our cousin, Army Master Sgt. Anthony R. C. Yost from Flint, Michigan. Fallen Heroes Memorials were erected in their home towns.  This project is a gift to my sister, Lori Miller, who devoted an extraordinary amount of time leading fundraising activities for Sgt. Depottey's memorial.

Thanks for hopping by!  Happy Veterans' Day to all those who have served.

In case you get lost along the way, here is the entire lineup:
