Scraps to Treasures Blog Hop - Frozen

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from Scraps to Treasures. We are having a wonderful time today, showcasing beautiful projects created with the song "Let it Go" from the movie "Frozen" in mind.

I actually considered skipping this hop, as I had not seen the movie - so from the start was not inspired.....and I am too busy making cards to fill an order for a gift store in Copper Harbor, Michigan (it's not the end of the world - but you can see it from there!)  However, after reading the lyrics, I did realize I could get two jobs done with my scraps and glitter.

In one sense, this was a no brainer - FROZEN describes Copper Harbor for 11-1/2 months of the year!  One line in the song provided the inspiration for today's card:

And I'll rise like the break of dawn.

So my card uses a free svg from Jenny's Crafty Creations - a sun ray cut from scrap yellow floral paper.  The white background is embossed cardstock left over from wedding cards I made a few years ago when the bride decided to cut her invitation list in half after I had all the cardstock cut and embossed.  The glittered embellishment is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (copper, of course, for Copper Harbor) - simple card, but will certainly end up being a thank-you card for someone left home to water the plants.

Have a great weekend!

Teach-Me Tuesday - Top of the Morning to You!

Good morning,

I hope you are having a great week so far. Now, on to some scrappin'! Here is a card I made in about 15 minutes.

First lesson - If I purchase a paper pack for a specific project, I try to keep all my scraps from that project together...storing them in one plastic 12 x 12 storage envelope That way, when I need a quick card, everything in that envelope is color coordinated - and I have fewer decisions to make. I used scraps from Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters Collection. I've been working on St. Patrick Day cards for a couple weeks now - so cut a whole page of shamrock accents (freebie from Images by Heather) in different sizes on a piece of scrap green-patterned paper. So I already had some of those laying around.

I began with these scraps.

I began with a cream card base - 5-1/4" x 5-1/4". I used a deckle blade to cut three sides of the striped cardstock to be the card front - 5-1/2" x 5-1/2". The other scraps - I pretty much cut five rectangles. The only measuring I did was to mat a couple of the scrap rectangles. Just used whatever size rectangles I could get from the scraps I had left...starting to just glue them down wherever! I did decide I needed something to bring it all together - so added a green border matted with purple.

I popped up the last couple pieces of scraps I selected - and added a couple of the Shamrock Accents.

Come back to visit us as we keep posting new ideas for using scraps.

Scraps to Treasures - Anything Goes (if it's Pink, Grey, and White)

Welcome to our ANYTHING GOES challenge. For this challenge you are to use your scraps to create any project with any theme, BUT you MUST use the colors PINK, GREY, and WHITE.

Here is my contribution. The butterfly was actually intended to be background paper for wedding invitations I made last summer. However, they didn't print well and turned out more grey than the dark black I needed. After adding a little pink Copic, I was able to make good use of the scrap butterflies.

For a chance to win a RAK, please link up your creations on the Scraps to Treasures blog by February 7. A winner will be announced on February 11.

Scraps to Treasures - Candy Wrappers

Hi Everyone,

We're bringing you another fabulous Scraps to Treasures Blog Hop.  This month the theme is "Candy Bar Wrappers."  Now I don't know if this makes a difference....but I had it in my head it was just "Candy Wrappers."  So I decided to "wrap" my candy in pillow boxes - extra-special treats for neighbor kids on Halloween.  Then when I went to post - I saw that word "bar."  Okay, so I took some creative license - but then I'm generally a rule follower - so I did have to also make a candy BAR wrapper.  LOL!  Enjoy my projects - and the great candy bar wrappers throughout the hop, and we'll see you back here next month when we'll be playing Tic-Tac-Toe.  Won't you join in the fun?

Candy Bar Wrapper

I was inspired for the pillow boxes by Brenda from Pebbles in my Pocket.  Each of these holds a full-sized Hershey's Bar and a couple bite-sized pieces of candy.

Scraps to Treasures - Happy Birthday Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

It's great to be back with all of you this Saturday for another Scraps to Treasures Blog Hop. Today's hop features many more timeless projects using scraps with one major theme - birthdays! And make sure you hit all the blogs, because Robin has a giv
eaway! One lucky follower will receive a Scrappy Goodie Mix! It will have several different scrappy items with a value of about $20!!! To be entered for this awesome Blog Candy you MUST leave a comment on EACH blog in the hop. If you become a new follower you will earn an added entry. Please leave a comment that you became a follower.

If you are passionate about stamping or scrapbooking, and love the play with scraps, Click here to join us for next month's hop - the hop on September 21 will feature altered items.

It has been my mission for months now to use only scraps in my projects. And I'm proud to say, I've been fairly successful. Made one group of cards with a new paper pack - but everything else is coming from scraps - with my pile FINALLY, albeit slowly, dwindling down. All the images in my cards today are left over from Graphic 45 Place in Time projects. Since I had lots left over with birthday images, I made more than one card.

Have a great weekend, and we'll see you right back here next month for the Altered-Items Blog Hop.

Your next stop is Paula.  Here is the entire line up in case you become lost.

SunGO? Anything Goes! (Scraps to Treasures Blog Hop)

Hi Everyone,

Happy Weekend to each one of you.  We are in the midst of enjoying warm weather here....and it sounds like across the country.

This month's Scraps to Treasures theme is "Anything Goes."  I chose to share a card I recently made for my husband to give to a retiring coworker.  My husband works for the Tucson public bus system - affectionately known here as SunTran.  SunTran just started a new payment system they call "SunGO" that is getting quite the attention here in Tucson.  So I thought the "Anything Goes" theme perfect for a SunTran card right about now!  Oh, and SunTran cards are ALWAYS made from scraps....because my hubby comes home from work at 7:30 p.m. and suddenly remembers he needs a card for tomorrow!  So if it can't be made from scraps, it doesn't get made!

I've shared other cards my hubby has asked me to make for coworkers....here are a couple of my favorites from the past.

The Pink Dalmation is next on the hop.  Here is the entire line-up in case you've gotten lost.  Enjoy hopping!

Scraps to Treasures - Monochromatic

Welcome to the Scraps To Treasure Team's Monochromatic Blog Hop. Our goal at STT is to use up all our scraps and leftover embellishments to create wonderful layouts, cards and other projects. This month we are doing that using different shades of only one color.

Up for grabs is this RAK from our hostess, Paula at http://preciouspagesbypaula.blogspot.com that will be going out to one lucky hopper that is a follower of all the blogs in the hop and has left a comment for each entry.
Included in the RAK are:

10 My Mind's Eye Laundry Line Diecuts
2 Basic Grey Bling It On Rubons and Rhinestones
2 Glitz Frosting Bling
1 Martha Stewart Glitter Alphas
1 EK Success Inspirables Embellishments
1 Special Moments Embellishments
1 Treasured Memories Metal Tags

I'm so glad to meet three goals with this project: 1) monochromatic blog hop, 2) finally finding a use for my cream mulberry paper left over from a project I did about seven years ago, and 3) FINALLY finishing one of the baby gifts I've been wanting to make since - what I think the kid is almost 18? Okay - he's still a baby, but I'm embarrassed to not have gotten this gift to his family in the first month.

But I'm excited to share! I think for a project made from scraps turned out just great!

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop and more great monochromatic creations. Your next stop is Robin.  Here is the entire line up in case you get lost.

Scraps to Treasure Blog Hop - Anything Spring

Welcome to the Scraps to Treasure Blog Hop. This month's theme - Anything Spring.

Nothing says Spring like flowers! Yesterday I received a great Close to My Heart Stamp Set - prize from Janet's Creative World in the Altered Frames Blog Hop last week. The stamp set, Happy Valentine, has gorgeous roses and sentiments to die for (in particular, a great "Smitten"). When I looked at my calendar and saw I needed to get ready for the Spring hop, it was close at hand and perfect! Thanks again, Janet!

My scrap pieces of paper today came from a dollar-store pack purchased seven years ago! ( I remember this, because neither my husband nor I had jobs and no money for the good stuff!) As you know, I seldom throw anything away. And this is why! Today, I just saw this paper in a different way! Here is a pic of the actual paper. I cut the "stripes" and created two borders - one from the flowers and one from the ornate green patterned striped.

I used scraps of Buttercup Dot (Bo Bunny) for the roses - and I have a folder full of green scraps that I keep mostly for leaves. I stamped and cut two images on green....and two images on Buttercup. I accented the Buttercup roses with Copic Markers - then popped them up on top of the green leaves, adding a couple extra leaves in between.

Kathryn is the next stop on the hop.  But if you came here first, be sure to "spring" through the rest of the hop. The line-up is below in case you need it. My line up may be just a tad off, as I just started working at Hobby Lobby, and am posting my card early as I know I won't have time this weekend while working. We are setting up the first Hobby Lobby in Tucson....and if any of you have experienced a store set up, you know I'm beat when I get home! Yet, even though, have to admit I am enjoying the experience! However, there is no spring in my step these days - so I will be stumbling through the hop! Anyways, hope you are enjoying the hop!

Scraps to Treasures - Valentine Treats

Welcome to the Scraps to Treasure Valentine Treats Blog Hop.  Scraps to Treasure is a group of crafty people who take their leftover scraps and come up with beautiful and fun projects that center around a monthly theme.  This month's theme is Valentine Treats; our crafters were put to task in creating something that used only scraps, but was also Valentine-Treat related.  Jessi Buehrle at My Life in Arts N Crafts (http://mylifeinartsncrafts.blogspot.com/) is our hostess for this hop, and is giving away some goodies.  To be entered to win this fabulous prize, you must...
1. Follow all the blogs in this hop
2. Comment on all the blogs in the hop as well
3. Head on over to My Life in Arts’ n Craf

fan page and give it a like
     a. If you come back to Jessi’s blog and leave a comment saying you did so, get entered in for a second chance.
And don’t forget to check out Jessi’s etsy store - new items added monthly.

Now let's see what Valentine treats await us!
We were asked to create a Valentine Treat Bag, Topper, or Container - of course, using scraps.  I created a treat bag holder using cream cardstock embossed with circles, with a decorative punched border.  I used a Valentine image (from Graphic 45 Place in Time) I had left over from Valentine cards I made for my local customers.  I matted the image with Peacock Blue Glitter Ritz - embellished with a flower given to me by Avania Floral Embellishments at 2012 CHA - topped off with a ribbon.  The package contains some red hot hard candies in a bag.
