Color Burst

Happy Saturday! For today, I have another simple card using Color Burst. As usual, you can find this paper collection HERE. It's one of my favorite collections.
These digital cards may be way too simple, but I love a simple, yet elegant card.

We're Bursting with Color at We Are 3

This month Bonnie created priceless digital papers. The new Color Burst collection is perfect for quick and simple cards. Here is a card that probably took five minutes to design and make. When life gets in the way, we often don't get to spend nearly enough time crafting. I love a watercolor background - so the watercolor background and a sentiment. What more do you need? The sentiment is a freebie from Love SVG.

Spring Chick, Mystery Chick, Mojo Chick

I love a good challenge or swap - and often try to combine.  Our local scrapbooker's group meets month and swaps cards with a specific "mystery item" - this month's being white cupcake liners.  What a great feeling when that inspiration clicks!  So today I am sharing a card inspired by Mojo Monday's Sketch Challenge #498 - using my cupcake paper liners.  My papers are watercolored using Ken Oliver's Color Burst - as is my Spring Chick.

Outlawz and Get Well

I love Ken Oliver's Color Burst - always so very colorful and cheerful.  For this card, I was inspired by the current challenge at The Outlawz.  I am also working on clearing out my stash - so found this already-painted cardstock and some quilled flowers that were gifted to me.  I hope you like it.

Hello Color Burst

I love Ken Oliver's Color Burst - it allows you to make cards that look somewhat complex, but are actually quick and simple once your cardstock is watercolored.  I love the therapy of piecing the watercolored cardstock together.

Neebish Island Card

It isn't summer without a trip to Neebish Island! Today I'm featuring a card for the strong women on Neebish Island, Michigan.

My design was especially inspired by Sketch Saturday #415...I immediately saw the oval as the Island - and replaced the flourish with an anchor.

Color Burst makes for a fun background with a watercolor wash. I used the Sprinkle-Spritz technique for the Island. The anchor is embossed craft paper by Tim Holtz - with a Color Burst wash for a striped effect. I white embossed a strip with a wavy design - then colored with watercolors...with the embossed section resisting the watercolor.

The Neebish sentiment makes the island the star of the show. Everything was cut using my Sizzix eClips.

It's Your Day!

Kit and Clowder is one of my favorite Facebook groups for cardmaking.  The crafters posting are taking coloring classes - and their work is perfect cardmaking!

Kit and Clowder is getting married - for their wedding, Alyce is offering a free coloring class - if you are a beginner colorer, you have to spend an hour playing!

Today I am sharing the card I made for Kit and Clowder - and the first rose I ever completed coloring!  Not too great - but the fact that I didn't give up half way is great!  But notice for the card, I resorted to Color Burst...heck with that shading!

Sweet Sketch Challenge

Inspired by Sweet Sketch Wednesday - 89, I used some leftover Color Burst scraps.  I thought it would be fun to mix up some different tones.

Happy Birthday, Mom

Tomorrow would be my mother-in-law's birthday.  We lost her about ten years ago - To keep her memory, I am in the process of making four scrapbooks - one for each of my in-laws.  Today's layout is inspired by the amazing sketch challenge from Stuck?! Sketches.  Check out their entries - they will bring some joy to your day.

Once Upon a Bird

Now, doesn't this happy bird just yell out Spring?  I love this absolutely cute guy from Doodle Pantry.  Fun! And he looks great in Color Burst!

Discovering Northern Michigan

It was fun to come across Challenge #39 at Scribbles Designs - themed A Song in my Heart.  I just happen to be working on cards inspired by the beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula - and my inspirational music for these has always been Mark Mitchell, a songwriter from Ishpeming (I believe).  For this challenge in particular, I'm inspired by his words in the song "Discovering."
There is so much to discover
When you're a long-time lover
Of Northern Michigan

What a fun challenge. Woo hoo!

Color Burst U.P. card

Michigan's Upper Peninsula bodes a rustic lifestyle - with a history of copper mining in the Keweenaw Peninsula.  With its rough winters, its people are resilient.  In the summer, who wouldn't enjoy relaxing in the beauty of Lake Superior - dessert for the eyes.

Join me over the next several weeks as I make cards celebrating the rustic lifestyle of da U.P. - my first card using Color Burst and some aged copper embossing.
